Length and bandwidth
Bandwidth is not file-transfer speed
The 40Gbps figure is a maximum link-rate claim, not a promise of 40Gbps measured throughput. The source and receiving ports, connected devices, cable mode, storage and workload can all reduce actual transfer speeds.
Check compatibility
The connected devices must support the needed USB4 or Thunderbolt features. A half-foot cable offers little reach, so measure the setup first and review the listing's current power and video specifications if those features matter.
